Newborn Sessions
Frequently Asked Questions
Let J Hull Photography help you document your journey!
When should you book? Most clients book in their second trimester to guarantee their spot as we do sometimes book up months in advance.
When should sessions take place? Sessions usually take place 7-21 days after baby is born.
How long are sessions? Newborn Sessions last about 2-4 hours. Our sessions have a relaxed, unhurried pace to keep baby calm, happy, and safe. Your baby sets the pace with plenty of time for quieting, soothing, diaper changes, feeding, and cuddling. I like to shoot siblings and parent poses first so that we can concentrate on baby images for the rest of the shoot. The studio will be very warm to keep baby comfortable, so dressing in layers is a good idea.
Why is it so important to do newborn photos within the first week or two? All newborns have a certain "look" to them. Usually within a week or two, that newborn-like quality starts to disappear. The point of newborn photos is to capture that newborn look, so I always recommend photographing as early as possible.
Can my partner or child be in the photographs, too? Of course! Silver and Gold Sessions incorporate parents and siblings. Mini Sessions are baby alone. I love incorporating mom, dad and your other children into our session photos. While in most cases you, dad and baby will be the stars of the day, I believe it's so important to have several photographs with the entire family.
Will you come to my home? At this time, I am only offering Studio Newborn Sessions. I understand that this is a hectic time for you, so I want to make your session as easy and streamlined as possible. I have everything needed close at hand at the studio. I provide everything needed for the session. All you need is your bundle of joy and your diaper bag!
Interested in a Maternity Session as well? Maternity & Newborn Packages are available as well. That information is located under Newborn Packages.
